Amsterdam is where much of the internet's content lives. AMS-IX is one of the busiest exchanges in the world, the big streaming and CDN networks keep caches in the city, and London is a few milliseconds away under the North Sea. Our dedicated servers are available in the Netherlands at the same price as everywhere else, with an unmetered, guaranteed port and 100 Gbps of DDoS protection included. Here is who Amsterdam suits, what it costs and three setups that make good use of it.
Amsterdam for the UK, without hosting in the UK
We do not sell servers in the United Kingdom, and for many projects we do not need to. Amsterdam is typically 7 to 9 ms from London, and on tail latency it often compares well with hosting inside the UK itself. A server in the Netherlands also keeps your data inside the European Union, which suits EU companies with British customers and British companies that sell into the EU.
The same goes for the Nordics. Stockholm is typically 22 to 25 ms from Amsterdam, and AMS-IX is one of the main places where Scandinavian networks meet the rest of Europe.
Round trips from Amsterdam
| From Amsterdam to | Round trip |
|---|---|
| Frankfurt | 6.2 ms |
| London | 7 to 9 ms |
| Paris | 12 to 15 ms |
| Vienna | 17.4 ms |
| Warsaw | 22.4 ms |
| Stockholm | 22 to 25 ms |
| Bucharest | 29.7 ms |
| Madrid | 32 to 35 ms |
| Ashburn, US East | 102.6 ms |
Single values were measured between our own servers on 12 October 2026, and ranges are typical figures from our location page. The measured latency table has the full matrix. Amsterdam and Frankfurt are only 6.2 ms apart, so for most pan European projects the two are interchangeable. Pick Amsterdam when the UK, the Benelux countries or the Nordics matter most, and Frankfurt when Germany and the east do. Our post on dedicated servers in Frankfurt covers the other side of that choice.
Built for bandwidth heavy work
Amsterdam's strength is peering. Content networks, CDNs and large access networks all meet at AMS-IX, so traffic from a server in the Netherlands reaches viewers and downloaders over short, direct paths. That makes it a natural home for streaming origins, software mirrors, package repositories, game patch servers and anything else that pushes a lot of data. Every port we sell is unmetered and guaranteed, so a server that runs flat out all month costs the same as one that idles.
| Server | Cores | RAM | 1 Gbps | 5 Gbps | 10 Gbps | 20 Gbps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dual Xeon E5 2630 v3 | 16 | 128 GB | €209 | €519 | €659 | €1,159 |
| Dual Xeon E5 2690 v4 | 28 | 128 GB | €229 | €539 | €679 | €1,179 |
| Dual Xeon E5 2699 v4 | 44 | 256 GB | €299 | €609 | €749 | €1,249 |
Prices are monthly, exclude VAT, include no setup fee and match every other country. EPYC servers are available in the Netherlands too, from €449 a month with DDR5 and NVMe. Storage is where a mirror or an origin server grows, and the Xeon servers take up to six SSDs:
| Xeon storage option | Per month |
|---|---|
| 1 × 240 GB SSD | Included |
| 2 × 500 GB SSD | €5 |
| 6 × 1 TB SSD | €69 |
| 6 × 2 TB SSD | €139 |
| 6 × 4 TB SSD | €279 |
| 6 × 8 TB SSD | €559 |
DDoS protection in the Netherlands
Every dedicated server in the Netherlands sits behind 100 Gbps of always on DDoS mitigation at layers 3 and 4, included in the price. An attack larger than 100 Gbps is still mitigated up to five times a month, and from the sixth in the same month the targeted address is null routed until the attack stops or you move the server up a tier. Paid tiers go from 500 Gbps at €156.45 a month to 10 Tbps with Layer 7 filtering at €4,723.95. Our guide to the DDoS tiers lists them all, and the tier you pick never changes the port speed.
Three setups that work from Amsterdam
| Project | Setup | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| SaaS for UK and EU customers | Dual EPYC 9254, 1 Gbps, Netherlands, plus a /29 for 5 addresses | €687 |
| Software mirror or package repository | Dual E5 2699 v4, 10 Gbps, 6 × 8 TB SSD | €1,308 |
| Streaming origin for the UK and Benelux | Dual E5 2690 v4, 5 Gbps, 6 × 1 TB SSD, 500 Gbps DDoS tier | €764.45 |
The SaaS server gets 48 cores, 256 GB of DDR5 and NVMe storage, enough for an app and its database on one machine. The mirror carries 48 TB of raw SSD behind a 10 Gbps port that nobody meters. The streaming origin takes the 500 Gbps tier because popular live streams are a frequent target. If one location is not enough, our guide to building your own CDN shows how to add edges in other countries.
Looking for a VPS in Amsterdam?
Our Amsterdam VPS node runs in Equinix AM6, and it adds only a small location fee on top of the base plan, with the same included DDoS protection. Our post on Amsterdam VPS hosting covers the plans. How to order in the Netherlands
- Pick a server and a port on the dedicated servers page.
- Choose the Netherlands at checkout. The price does not change.
- Add drives and an IPv4 subnet if you need them, and pick a DDoS tier if the included one is not enough.
- Pick an operating system and pay. Xeon servers in stock are usually online within about an hour, and EPYC builds can take up to 14 days.
