If your users are spread across Europe and you can pick only one location, pick Frankfurt. DE-CIX, one of the largest internet exchanges in the world, sits in the city, most German and Central European networks meet there, and every other major European hub is a short hop away. Our dedicated servers are available in Germany at the same price as in every other country we serve, with an unmetered, guaranteed port and 100 Gbps of DDoS protection included. Here is who Frankfurt suits, what it costs and what to order.
Frankfurt for Germany and Central Europe
A visitor in Germany reaches a server in Frankfurt over domestic paths, usually through DE-CIX or a direct connection between networks that meet there. That matters most for anything interactive: an online shop where every page view makes several requests, a SaaS dashboard, a game, or an API that other servers call hundreds of times a minute. Each of those pays the round trip again and again.
Frankfurt also works for the countries around Germany. Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, Czechia and Poland are all close, and many Eastern European carriers route through Frankfurt anyway. That is why so many European companies run a single region there and only add a second location once a particular market grows large enough to deserve it.
Measured round trips from Frankfurt
We measured these between our own servers on 12 October 2026, with 20 pings in each direction.
| From Frankfurt to | Round trip |
|---|---|
| Amsterdam | 6.2 ms |
| Vienna | 11.4 ms |
| Warsaw | 16.3 ms |
| Sofia | 21.9 ms |
| Bucharest | 24.6 ms |
| Ashburn, US East | 96.6 ms |
London and Paris are typically 12 to 15 ms away. Our measured latency table has the full matrix between all our VPS cities, and it shows why Frankfurt is such a safe default: no major European hub is more than about 25 ms away.
DDoS protection on every server in Germany
Every dedicated server in Germany sits behind 100 Gbps of always on DDoS mitigation at layers 3 and 4, at no extra cost. Floods are dropped before they reach your port, and an attack larger than 100 Gbps is still mitigated up to five times a month. For game networks, streaming platforms and other services that are attacked often, a higher tier raises the cap for that one server.
| DDoS tier | Per month |
|---|---|
| 100 Gbps, L3/L4 | Included |
| 500 Gbps, L3/L4 | €156.45 |
| 1 Tbps, L3/L4 | €523.95 |
| 2 Tbps, L3/L4 | €1,048.95 |
| 5 Tbps, L3/L4 | €2,623.95 |
| 10 Tbps, L3/L4 and Layer 7 | €4,723.95 |
The tier changes how big an attack the server absorbs, not its port speed or its traffic. Our guide to the DDoS tiers explains how to choose one.
What a dedicated server in Germany costs
Prices are monthly, exclude VAT and are the same in every country. There is no setup fee.
| Server | Cores | RAM | 1 Gbps | 2 Gbps | 10 Gbps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dual Xeon E5 2630 v3 | 16 | 128 GB | €209 | €259 | €659 |
| Dual Xeon E5 2690 v4 | 28 | 128 GB | €229 | €279 | €679 |
| Dual Xeon E5 2699 v4 | 44 | 256 GB | €299 | €349 | €749 |
| Single AMD EPYC 9254 | 24 | 128 GB DDR5 | €449 | €529 | €1,169 |
Every port is unmetered and guaranteed, so a 2 Gbps port carries 2 Gbps all month without a traffic bill. The Xeon servers start with one 240 GB SSD and the EPYC with two 1 TB NVMe drives. Xeon servers in stock are usually online within about an hour, and EPYC builds can take up to 14 days. If you are deciding between port speeds, our post on which port upgrade pays off does the maths.
Three setups that work from Frankfurt
| Project | Setup | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Agency hosting for German clients | Dual E5 2699 v4, 1 Gbps, 6 × 1 TB SSD, Germany | €368 |
| Game servers for German and Austrian players | Dual E5 2690 v4, 2 Gbps, 2 × 500 GB SSD, a /28 for 13 addresses, 500 Gbps DDoS tier | €466.45 |
| Video and downloads for Central Europe | Single EPYC 9254, 10 Gbps, Germany | €1,169 |
The agency server runs dozens of client sites on 44 cores and 256 GB of RAM, with six SSDs for room to grow. The game server takes a /28 so every game instance gets its own address, and the 500 Gbps tier keeps it online through the kind of repeated attacks that popular game servers draw. The media server pairs DDR5 and NVMe with a guaranteed 10 Gbps port that nobody meters. Our guide to extra IPv4 subnets explains the /29, /28 and /27 choices.
Looking for a VPS in Frankfurt?
We run KVM and streaming VPS in Frankfurt too, from a small monthly location fee on top of the base plan, and they get the same included DDoS protection. A VPS is the sensible start for a small German project. Our post on Frankfurt VPS hosting covers the plans, and a dedicated server is the step up once you need the hardware to yourself.
How to order in Germany
- Pick a server and a port on the dedicated servers page.
- Choose Germany at checkout. The price does not change.
- Add drives and an IPv4 subnet if you need them, and leave DDoS protection on the included tier or pick a higher one.
- Pick an operating system and pay. If you need the exact facility for a compliance review, or the server by a set date, ask us by live chat or ticket first.
