Hostkey and X-Zone Servers both sell dedicated hardware in Europe, but they are built around different buyers. Hostkey is a GPU and "instant server" specialist headquartered in the Netherlands; X-Zone Servers is a bandwidth-and-latency specialist with CPU-focused bare metal and KVM VPS across 12 EU and US datacenters. Who each provider is built for
Hostkey's catalogue leads with graphics cards: at the time of writing it lists everything from consumer RTX boards to data-centre accelerators, sold as dedicated servers or as short-term "instant" machines that can be provisioned from stock in minutes. If your workload is model training, inference, rendering or transcoding on CUDA, that is the shelf to browse first.
X-Zone Servers starts from the network side. Every dedicated server is sold with a guaranteed port tier from 1 Gbps up to 200 Gbps, on AMD EPYC or Intel Xeon with local NVMe, and the same configurator applies in every location. GPU-capable builds are available on request, but the day-to-day product is compute you can saturate with traffic: streaming origins, backup targets, game backends and high-concurrency APIs.
Hardware and configuration
- Hostkey: GPU SKUs are the differentiator. You pick a card (or several) and take the CPU, RAM and storage that come with that chassis. Non-GPU dedicated and VPS lines exist, but the GPU range is where the catalogue depth is.

X-Zone Servers runs the same product in twelve cities: Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Vienna, Sofia, Milan, Bucharest, Marseille, Paris, Madrid, Warsaw, Istanbul and Ashburn, each with its own location page listing the facility, peering and measured latency. The practical difference: if you need the same server template in Madrid, Warsaw and Ashburn on one invoice, X-Zone is the shorter path; if you need a data-centre GPU in Amsterdam next week, Hostkey is.
Bandwidth and traffic
GPU servers are usually sold with modest ports because the card is the expensive part. X-Zone Servers inverts that: the port tier is the headline, traffic on that port is unmetered at the committed rate, and there is no 95th-percentile surprise on the invoice. For inference endpoints that ship large responses, or render farms that move raw frames between sites, this is often the line item that decides the total cost, not the hourly compute rate.

Both providers offer short-term compute. Hostkey's instant servers can be rented for short periods, which suits GPU experiments. Both providers run 24/7 ticket support. X-Zone Servers includes DDoS protection on every server and VPS as standard and handles onboarding directly, which matters more for internet-facing origins than for a training box behind a VPN.
Which one should you pick?
- Choose Hostkey when the workload is defined by a GPU model number, when you need the card quickly, and when a Netherlands-centric footprint is fine.
- Choose X-Zone Servers when the workload is defined by traffic, latency to specific European cities, or a mixed fleet of VPS and dedicated machines billed on one account.
- Use both when you train on rented GPUs and serve on committed bandwidth; that split is usually cheaper than buying either capability from a provider that specialises in the other.
