Where DigitalOcean is the stronger fit
A managed platform, not just servers
Managed PostgreSQL, MySQL and Valkey, Kubernetes, App Platform, Spaces object storage and load balancers all sit behind the same API and the same invoice. We sell servers — you run the database yourself. If not operating a database is worth money to you, that is a real reason to pick them.
Global regions and a very deep learning ecosystem
Bangalore, Singapore, Sydney, Toronto and five North American cities are places we do not serve, and DigitalOcean's tutorial library is one of the best-known references in Linux server administration. If your users are outside Europe, or your team learns from documentation, that combination is hard to match.
Per-second billing and a mature API
From January 2026 Droplets bill by the second with a 60-second minimum, and the API, CLI and Terraform provider are mature and widely used. Our VPS bills hourly, which is finer-grained than most hosts but coarser than theirs.

Can I migrate a Droplet to X-ZoneServers?
Yes. Both run standard Linux images with full root access, so a snapshot, an rsync or a block-level copy works normally. What does not migrate is the managed pieces — if you use DigitalOcean managed databases, Kubernetes or Spaces, budget time to self-host or re-point those before you move the compute.
