संक्षेप में
Choose Akamai Cloud when you want a long-established developer cloud with managed services, 33 regions and transfer pooled across the whole account at a $0.005 per GB overage — the most forgiving meter of the mainstream clouds. Choose X-ZoneServers when you would rather have no meter at all, or need a guaranteed 10–200 Gbps port that no hyperscale cloud sells.

Where Akamai Cloud is the stronger fit

The most forgiving bandwidth meter of the mainstream clouds

Transfer scales up to 20 TB per month by plan, pools across the whole account, and overage is $0.005 per GB in core datacenters — half what DigitalOcean and Vultr charge. If you want managed cloud services and your traffic is moderate, this is the least painful meter you will find outside an unmetered host.

Twenty-plus years of operating history, now on Akamai's platform

Linode has run production hosting since 2003 and since February 2022 sits inside Akamai, one of the oldest and largest edge networks on the internet. For teams that weigh vendor longevity and want a path to CDN and edge services from the same vendor, that combination is difficult to argue against.

33 regions and a managed services catalogue

Managed Kubernetes, managed databases, object storage, GPU instances and load balancers across 33 regions, including markets in India, Indonesia, Japan, Australia and South America where we have no presence. We sell servers in Europe and one US metro; on breadth this is not close.

Where X-ZoneServers is the stronger fit

No meter beats a cheap meter

$0.005 per GB is genuinely the best overage rate among the mainstream clouds, but it is still a rate. Push 50 TB above the allowance and it is a few hundred dollars; push it every month and it is a budget line. Our plans have no transfer allowance and no overage, so the invoice does not move when your traffic does.

Guaranteed ports up to 200 Gbps

Akamai Cloud expresses throughput as a transfer allowance. We sell a committed port: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 100 or 200 Gbps, guaranteed rather than burstable, with the monthly price of every chassis at every tier published on the site and no overage inside a tier.

Eleven European metros and EUR invoicing

Their European regions are Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Stockholm. We add Vienna, Warsaw, Sofia, Bucharest, Marseille and Istanbul, invoice in euros from an EU company, and include Layer 3, 4 and 7 DDoS mitigation on every plan at no extra cost.

Pricing scenarios

Comparable workloads at published list prices. Currency, VAT treatment, setup fees and promotional terms differ per provider — the disclosure below the table explains how to read them.

Entry instance

X-ZoneServers
Nano — 2 GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 40 GB SSD, 1 Gbps unmetered — €4.00/mo excluding VAT.
Akamai Cloud
Nanode 1GB — 1 GB RAM, 1 vCPU, 25 GB storage, 1 TB transfer — $5.00/mo. Half the RAM, with managed services available alongside and transfer pooled across your account.

Mid-size instance

X-ZoneServers
Basic — 16 GB RAM, 4 vCPU, 160 GB SSD, 1 Gbps unmetered — €16.00/mo excluding VAT.
Akamai Cloud
Linode 8GB — 8 GB RAM, 4 vCPU, 160 GB storage, 5 TB transfer — $48.00/mo.

A month where you push about 50 TB outbound

X-ZoneServers
10Gbps VPS from €9.99/mo, flat, with no transfer line on the invoice.
Akamai Cloud
On a 5 TB plan, roughly 45,000 GB of overage at $0.005 per GB in core datacenters is about $225 on top of the instance price — cheaper than the other mainstream clouds, and still a variable line.
ईमानदार राय: Akamai Cloud has the best bandwidth economics of the mainstream developer clouds and more than twenty years of operating history behind it, and if you want managed Kubernetes or a managed database next to your servers, we do not compete on that at all. The one thing we do that they do not is remove the meter entirely and sell a guaranteed port instead. If your outbound is measured in single terabytes, use them; if it is measured in tens of terabytes and rising, run the arithmetic.

Which one should you pick?

Pick X-ZoneServers if

  • Outbound traffic is large enough that even $0.005 per GB adds up.
  • You need a guaranteed 10, 25, 100 or 200 Gbps port rather than an allowance.
  • Your users are in Southern or Eastern Europe, or Turkey, and you want EUR invoicing.
  • You want DDoS mitigation at Layers 3, 4 and 7 stated as included on every plan.

Pick Akamai Cloud if

  • You want managed Kubernetes, managed databases or object storage alongside compute.
  • Your traffic fits within a pooled allowance of up to 20 TB per plan.
  • You need regions in India, Indonesia, Japan, Australia or South America.
  • Vendor longevity and a path to Akamai's edge platform matter to your procurement.

अक्सर पूछे जाने वाले प्रश्न

Is Linode the same as Akamai Cloud?

Yes. Linode was founded in 2003 and acquired by Akamai in February 2022; the platform is now branded Akamai Cloud, and the linode.com pricing page redirects to akamai.com. Plan names such as Nanode and Linode 8GB are still in use.

How much does Akamai Cloud charge for bandwidth overage?

$0.005 per GB in most core datacenters, $0.007 in São Paulo, $0.01 in distributed compute regions and $0.015 in Jakarta. Included transfer scales from 0 to 20 TB per month by plan and is pooled across the account in most datacenters, and all inbound transfer is free. X-ZoneServers has no allowance and no overage on any plan.

Which has more locations?

Akamai Cloud, with 33 regions worldwide against 12 metros for X-ZoneServers. In Europe specifically the gap narrows: they list Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Stockholm, while we list eleven European metros including Vienna, Warsaw, Sofia, Bucharest, Marseille and Istanbul.

When is X-ZoneServers the better choice?

When bandwidth is the dominant cost or the dominant constraint. Our plans are unmetered with no transfer counter, and our dedicated servers are sold by guaranteed port up to 200 Gbps with published per-tier prices — a product shape that mainstream clouds, Akamai Cloud included, do not offer.

Disclosure, method and limits

We are one of the providers compared

This page is published by X-ZoneServers (X ZONE IT SRL, Bucharest, Romania). We sell one of the two services compared, so this is a vendor comparison rather than an independent review. Our method is to quote each provider's own published figures, name the date we read them, and state plainly where the other provider is the better choice.

How the numbers are gathered

Competitor data is read directly from that provider's public website — pricing pages, specification sheets, network and location pages — on the dates listed under Sources, plus public network registries such as PeeringDB and bgp.he.net for ASN details. We do not benchmark competitor hardware ourselves and we do not republish figures from review sites or affiliate directories.

How to read the prices

List prices only. Promotional offers, first-term discounts, renewal rates, setup fees, add-ons, region surcharges and currency all differ per provider and can change without notice. X-ZoneServers prices are in EUR excluding VAT. Where another provider publishes in a different currency or inclusive of VAT, that is marked in the table — those figures are not directly comparable to ours without adjustment.

Accuracy and corrections

The goal is that every claim here can be verified at the source in under a minute. Nothing on this page is a benchmark result, a prediction, or a statement about a competitor's internal operations. If a figure has drifted or is wrong — including where the error favours us — write to us and we will correct it and move the review date.

Trademarks and affiliation

All company and product names are the property of their respective owners and are used here for identification and comparison only. X-ZoneServers is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or a reseller of any other provider named on this page.
